My name is Carl Olson, and I have fished the waters of Minnesota since I was very young. From trips to the Boundary Waters, to the small quiet trout streams of Southeast Minnesota and so much in between. I have spent different periods of my life targeting specific quarries, but my keenest pursuit has always been becoming a skilled multi-species angler.
As fate would have it, I married a woman from Wabasha, Minnesota, and started to explore the Mississippi River Valley in earnest. During that time, I discovered how truly special the Mississippi River is as a fishery. It has the most dynamic and diverse multi-species fishing in the Midwest, and I have spent the last 20 years finding it difficult to go anywhere else.
I can’t wait to share with you the depth of its potential and my fondness for its waters. I live in the quiet little town of Mazeppa, Minnesota, with my wife Amy and our three children, Melanie, Bjorn, and Elliott. I have a Captain’s License (OUVP) and am a fully insured LLC.
My hope for your trip is not only to provide some fun and exciting fish catches but to share the experience with you as a teacher. The wonder and mystery of the aquatic world is full of illusive subtleties and nuances that can be unveiled and understood in fun ways when you have a guide who seeks to teach and not just to catch.
